8.0" Plate with Four Fossil Leaves (Cissites) - Montana

These are four fossil leaves from the Fort Union Formation near Glendive, Montana. The plate consists of four Cissites rocklandensis leaves. The dark orange/brown preservation contrasts well against the shale, and many of the details in the leaves can be seen in good relief. There may be some touchups to the surface of the leaves where pieces of them flaked onto the negative during collection. A partialunidentified leaf can also be found on the reverse side.

This specimen includes an acrylic-metal display stand.

Clockwise from top-left: 2.4" long, 2.85" long, 3.15" long, 2.8" long
