2.5" Fossil Legume (Leguminosites) Leaf - Green River, Utah
This is a 2.5" fossil leaf from Leguminosites lesquereuxiana, a type of legume. The back side of the shale contains a balloon vine (Cardiospermum coloradensis) leaf.
This plate is Eocene in age and comes from the Green River Formation in Uintah County, Utah. This is the same formation that is famous for producing well preserved fish fossils, but a different member and location.
