Twelve Fossil Leaves (Zizyphoides, Beringiaphyllum & Davidia) -Montana
These are twelve fossil leaves from the Fort Union Formation near Glendive, Montana. The rock contains five Davidia antiqua (5) leaves, three Beringiaphyllum (#30) leaves and four Zizyphoides flabellum (#1) leaves. The dark orange/brown preservation contrasts well against the shale, and many of the details in the leaf can be seen in good relief. There may be some touchups to the surface of the leaf where some of it flaked onto the negative during collection.
The entire specimen measures 17.3 x 11.1" and includes a metal (rebar) display stand.
#1 - Zizyphoides flabellum (2.3", 2.6", 2.9 & 4.25")
#5 - Davidia antiqua (2.5", 2.65", 2.8", 3.6" & 3.65")
#30- Beringiaphyllum cupanoides (3" & 3.2" long)
