13.5" Wide Plate with Six Fossil Leaves (Four Species) - Montana
These are six fossil leaves (four species) from the Fort Union Formation near Glendive, Montana. The rock contains one Zizyphoides flabellum leaf (#1), two Celtis asperum leaves (#4), two Davidia antiqua leaves (#5), and one Beringiaphyllum cupanoides leaf (#30). The dark orange/brown preservation contrasts well against the shale, and many of the details in the leaves can be seen in good relief. There may be some touchups to the surface of the leaves where pieces of them flaked onto the negative during collection.
This specimen includes an acrylic-metal display stand.
