8.4" Wide Plate with Five Fossil Leaves (Three Species) - Montana
These are five fossil leaves (three species) from the Fort Union Formation near Glendive, Montana. The rock contains two Zizyphoides flabellum leaves (#1) and two Beringiaphyllum cupanoides leaves (#30). There is one additional leaf on the back, Davidia antiqua (#5). The dark orange/brown preservation contrasts well against the shale, and many of the details in the leaves can be seen in good relief. There may be some touchups to the surface of the leaves where pieces of them flaked onto the negative during collection.
This specimen includes an acrylic-metal display stand.
