2.45" Fossil Leaf (Populus) - Green River Formation, Utah

This is an impressive fossil leaf plate from the Green River Formation, Utah. It contains a beautiful 2.45" poplar (Populus wilmattae) leaf. The genus Populus includes poplars, cottonwoods, and quaking aspens: this leaf closest resembles cottonwood leaves.

While the Green River Formation is best known for its fish fossils from Wyoming, other areas produce incredible plant fossils.
