Two Detailed Fossil Hackberry Leaves - Montana
These are detailed, Celtis aspera leaf fossils from the Fort Union Formation of Montana. It is from the Paleocene epoch, or approximately 60 million years old. The dark brown preservation of the leaf fossils contrast well against the lighter shale, and all the veins of the leaf can be seen in good relief.
There is some minor restoration around the leaf where parts of it flaked off onto the negative during collection. It comes with an acrylic display stand.
