.27" Fossil Ant And Fly - Green River Formation, Utah

This is an amazingly preserved .27" fossil Ant (Formicidae) and .13" Fly (Diptera) from the Green River Formation, Uintah County, Utah. There is a third fossil along one margin, likely a seed pod.

While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse insect fauna.
