7.3" Polished Bird's Eye Jasper (Rhyolite) Slab - Mexico
This is a 7.3" wide polished slab of spherulitic, Bird's Eye Jasper (Rhyolite) collected from Mexico. It is polished to a glossy finish on one side and comes with an acrylic display stand.
Bird's Eye jasper is not a true jasper but a type of rhyolite, a silica-rich extrusive volcanic rock produced in pyroclastic eruptions. As this particular rhyolite was formed, it interacted with other minerals to form brightly colored oval or rounded shapes, often in shades of red, pink, yellow, or purple. They are thought to look like birds' eyes, hence the name.
