Two Fossil Leaves (Zizyphoides & "Cinnamomum") - Montana
These are two fossil leaves (Zizyphoides flabellum and "Cinnamomum" sezannense) from the Fort Union Formation near Glendive, Montana. The Zizyphoides leaf is 2.3" wide and the "Cinnamomum" leaf is 1.7" long including the stem. The orange preservation contrasts well against the shale, and many of the details in the leaves can be seen in good relief. There may be some touchups to the surface of the leaves where pieces of them flaked onto the negative during collection.
This specimen includes an acrylic display stand.
