This is a piece of matrix containing several Hamamelis fruit fossils of the species Zizyphoides sp. They are Paleocene in age or approximately 57 million years old and come from the Sentinel Butte Formation of North Dakota. Modern members of the Hamamelidaceae are commonly known as "Witch-Hazel"
