Huge, 17.25" Plate of Paleocene Leaf Fossils - Glendive, Montana
This is an association of four fossil leaves from the Fort Union Formation near Glendive, Montana. The rock contains one Zizyphoides flabellum (#1), two Beringiaphyllum cupanoides leaves (#30), and a massive Macginitiea nobilis (Sycamore) leaf (#37) and an unidentified partial stem. The dark orange/brown preservation contrasts well against the shale, and many of the details in the leaf can be seen in good relief. There may be some touchups to the surface of the leaves where pieces of them flaked onto the negative during collection.
The entire specimen measures 17.25 x 11.75" and includes a metal (rebar) display stand.
#1 - Zizyphoides flabellum (1.75" wide)
#30- Beringiaphyllum cupanoides (5.4" & 2.5" long)
