Fossil Leaf And Insect Cluster - Green River Formation, Utah

This is a well preserved .87" fossil Leaf (Caesalpinia), and cluster of flies (Diptera) from the Green River Formation, Uintah County, Utah. There is additional plant material that cannot be identified in this specimen. One of the flies is a very well preserved cranefly (Tipulidae).

While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse insect fauna.
