Fossil Insect Cluster (Beetle and Flies)- Green River Formation, Utah
This is a fossil Insect cluster from the Green River Formation, Uintah County, Utah. This specimen contains a .42" Beetle (Coleoptera) and Flies (Diptera). There are approximately 25 insects in this specimen, comprising one beetle and at least two different families of fly. The beetle has its elitra (wing covers) open.
While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse insect fauna.
