Bargain, 9.1" Fossil Oreodont (Eporeodon) Skull - South Dakota
This is a 9.1" long partial skull of Eporeodon major, an oreodont from the Oligocene-aged Brule Formation of South Dakota. Comes with a display stand to assist with presentation of the skull.
There is a repaired crack through the middle of the skull where it broke in half during collection. The bone is heavily fragmented throughout the entire specimen.

Oreodonts are an extinct mammal most closely related to camels and pigs. They have no close relatives living today. They were herbivorous, with short faces and fang-like canine teeth. About the size of a sheep, they roamed the plains of North America in huge numbers during the Oligocene period.
