7" Ordovician Brittle Star (Ophiura) With Carpoid - Morocco
This is a very large, 7" wide, fossil brittle star (Ophiura) from the Kataoua Formation of Morocco. It is Ordovician in age, approximately 450 million years old. The orange coloration is natural and due to the oxidization of iron pyrite.
The brittle star is very detailed and is also associated with an unidentified carpoid fossil. There is a repaired crack running through a couple arms of the brittle star but it is unrestored.
It comes with an acrylic display stand.
