.55 Fossil Wasp (Hymenoptera) & Leaf - Green River Formation, Utah

This is a .55" Wasp (Hymenoptera) from the Green River Formation, Uintah County, Utah. It is likely that this is a queen. It has the extended abdomen and under magnification displays the wing shape and other morphological features of a queen. This specimen contains unidentified plant material including a fruit.

While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse insect fauna.
