.52" Detailed Fossil Marsh Fly (Tetanocera) - Bois d’Asson, France

This is a fossil marsh fly of the genus Tetanocera, collected from the Oligocene-aged deposits of Bois d'Asson, France. The fly measures .52" wide and is beautifully detailed with preserved legs.

This is part of an old collection that we recently acquired. The collection includes a variety of insect fossils from around Southern France, collected over a span of 50 years by a woman with PhDs in paleontology and pharmacology.
