Pliocene Aged Fossil Spruce Cones in Sandstone - France
These are two three-dimensionally preserved, 2.2" and 1.7" long fossil cones of the genus Picea, collected near Meximieux, France. They must be carefully prepared to remove the hard sandstone from the fossils to expose all of the detail. They are Upper Pliocene in age, or approximately 3 million years old.
The cones have been sealed and the space between the cones and sandstone have been stabilized to prevent separation.
It comes with an acrylic display stand.
