2.6" Pliocene Aged Fossil Spruce Cone in Sandstone - France
This is a three-dimensionally preserved, 2.6" long fossil cone of the genus Picea, collected near Meximieux, France. These fossils must be carefully prepared to remove the hard sandstone from them to expose all of their detail. They are Upper Pliocene in age, or approximately 3 million years old.
The cone has been sealed and the space between the cone and sandstone has been stabilized to prevent separation.
It comes with an acrylic display stand.
