This is a .42" fossil Weevil (Curculionoidae) from the Green River Formation, Uintah County, Utah. Also known as snout beetles, Weevils are a common member of the Order Coleoptera, the beetles. This specimen shows nice preservation that includes the eye.
While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse insect fauna.
