3.5" Fossil Leaf, Crane Fly, and Beetle Plate - Utah

This is an amazing, 3.5" wide piece of shale that contains a fossil leaf (Mimosites coloradensis), a crane fly (family Tipulidae, and an unidentified beetle (order Coleoptera). The specimen was collected from the Green River Formation of Uintah County, Utah. While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse flora and insect fauna.

Comes with an acrylic stand.
