This is a 3.1" fossil horsetail (Calamites) stalk, from the Breathitt Formation, Leslie County, Kentucky. Calamites is an extinct genus of tree like horsetails from the Late Carboniferous, Pennsylvanian aged forests that formed the coal shales of Kentucky and Ohio.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.
