1.6" Fossil Leaf (Cedrelospermum) - Green River Formation, Utah

This is an Eocene aged fossil leaf of Cedrelospermum nervosum, an extinct species of plant classified within the Ulmaceae family, which includes modern trees like elm and hackberry. The leaf is 1.6" long and on a piece of shale. It is nicely preserved with crisp edges and a orange-brown color. Fine details are faint, but can be seen.

It comes from the Green River Formation in Uintah County, Utah. While this formation is best known for well-preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain very diverse flora and insect fauna.
