3.05" Fossil Seed, Beetle, Ant, and Feather Plate - Utah
This is an amazing, 3.05" wide piece of shale that contains a fossil seed (Limnobiophyllum scutatum), beetle (order Coleoptera), ant (family Formicidae), and an unidentified feather. The specimen was collected from the Green River Formation of Uintah County, Utah. While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse insect fauna.
