.21" Fossil Seed Bug (Aphanus) & Fly (Diptera) - France
This is a fossil seed bug of the genus Aphanus (order Hemiptera, family Lygaeidae), collected from an Oligocene-aged shale deposit near Cereste in Southern France. It measures .21" long and has nice preservation detail. There is a second insect (order Diptera?) along one edge of the rock.
It comes with an acrylic display stand.
