1.05" Nileus Armadillo Trilobite - Slemestadt, Norway
This is a rarely seen Nileus armadillo trilobite from the Huk Formation of Norway. It's 1.05" long and shows off it's very large eyes. The Huk Formation which outcrops around Oslo produces many of the same species of trilobites better known from the St. Petersburg region of Russia but with a black shell preservation. The rock is much harder than the soft, creme colored limestone their Russian counterparts are found in making them much harder to collect and prepare.
We have only been able to offer a handful of Norwegian trilobites in the past and this is the only one of this species that we have had.
