5.9" Free-Standing, Polished Binthalya Opal - Western Australia
This is a cut and polished section of binthalya opal, an opalised Radiolarite (fine grained, siliceous ocean sediment). This form of common opal comes from an area in the Kennedy Ranges, located about 100 miles inland from the coastal town of Camarvon, Western Australia. It features alternating bands of pastel yellow, orange, and purple coloration.
One edge of the opal has been cut flat for free-standing presentation.
