14.2" Free-Standing, Polished Dendritic Opal (Moss Opal) - Australia
This is a free-standing section of "moss opal" containing small, black dendritic inclusions. It earns its more common name, "dendritic opal" from these small black inclusions. This form of opal comes from the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. It's known to occur near the towns of Kalgoorlie, Leonora, and Norseman.
One face of the specimen has been cut flat and polished to a glossy finish, and one edge has been cut flat for aesthetic vertical presentation.
