2.95" Carved Leopard Stone Bison - Mexico
This is a beautiful polished bison sculpture carved from a kind of jasper known as leopard stone. The stone displays a unique spotted pattern with red, white, and black coloration. This little guy measures 2.95 inches long and is polished to a glossy finish.
The base has been cut flat so that it stands up nicely on a hard surface.

Jasper is an opaque (light doesn't pass through it) variety of chalcedony colored by various impurities within the stone. Leapord skin jasper, or leopard stone, contains orbicular mineral formations that resemble the appearance of leopards skin or fur, hence where it earned its name.
