SEYMCHAN PALLASITE METEORITES FOR SALE
The Seymchan meteorite is a pallasite meteorite, a unique class of meteorite consisting of both metal and silicate minerals. Pallasites are thought to originate from the boundary region between the core and mantle of differentiated asteroids. The Seymchan meteorite was first discovered in 1967 near the Seymchan River in the Magadan Oblast of Russia. Based on the first few specimens recovered, it was originally classified as a coarse octahedrite (IIE) iron meteorite. More recently, meteorite hunters recovered additional new masses with more advanced metal detectors. Several of these (an estimated 10 to 20% of the masses) contain olivine, revealing the true pallasitic nature of this meteorite and its reclassification. Seymchan is unique among pallasites due to its unusually high iridium content.
