White River Oligocene Fossil Collection

This is a collection of Oligocene-aged fossils from the various sedimentary deposits of the Badlands. These specimens come from Pennington County, South Dakota and Sioux County, Nebraska.

The fossils in this collection include a "running rhino"(Hyracodon nebrascensis) jaw section, an oreodont (Merycoidodon culbertsoni) jaw section, a horse (Mesohippus bairdi) jaw section, a turtle shell piece, a coprolite (fossil poop), two rabbit (Paleolagus haydeni) jaw sections, a mammal vertebra, a squirrel (Ischyromys typus) jaw section, a mammal toe bone, a small rodent (Heliscomys sp.) jaw section, and three hackberry (Celtis celtis) seeds.
