4.3" Pennsylvanian Fossil Fern (Eusphenopteris) Plate - Kentucky
This is three fossil fern (Eusphenopteris) fronds, from the Breathitt Formation, Leslie County, Kentucky. The longest is 2.9". Eusphenopteris is an extinct family of seed ferns from the Late Carboniferous, Pennsylvanian aged forests that formed the coal shales of Eastern Kentucky and Ohio.
