Large Enrolled 5" Drotops Trilobite On Pedastal of Rock
At large, enrolled specimens of the giant phacopid trilobite Drotops megalomanicus. It's 2.75" wide and would be close to 5" long if it was outstretched. I really like the multi-toned shell coloration of the Drotops trilobites from this location, and find in more aesthetically appealing than the ones with a solid black shell.
It has been nicely prepared, and all of the tubercles, bumps and eye facets can easily be seen. There is about 2% shell restoration, mainly along a repaired crack running through the tail.

How a Drotops might be found in the field, with part of the tail exposed in the broken rock. It would then be prepared using airscribes and air abrasives a process that would likely take 20+ hours for a good specimen..
