Edrioasteroid Cluster (7) - Covington, Kentucky
Is is a very nice cluster of seven Edrioasteroid fossils from the Maysville, Formation in Covington, Kentucky. They are all about 3/4" of an inch wide and located on a large piece of limestone.
Edrioasteroids are an extinct class of echinoderms that lived from the Ediacaran until the Permian, about 300 million years ago. The living animal would have resembled a pentamerously symmetrical disc or cushion.
