5.4" Cruziana (Fossil Trilobite Trackway) - Morocco

This is a fossil trackway (cruziana) of an arthropod, in this case likely a trilobite, collected near Erfoud, Morocco. The two rows of evenly spaced lines show where the trilobite's legs would push up the muddy sea floor, leaving tracks similar to the way a tire leaves tracks in the mud. The cruziana measures 5.4" long through the center of the plate and is preserved on a thick slab of mudstone. It would be Ordovician in age, or approximately 450 million years old.

Comes with an acrylic-metal display stand.

About Trilobites

Trilobites are an extinct class of marine arthropods that thrived for nearly 270 million years, from the early Cambrian to the end of the Permian period (around 521 to 252 million years ago). They are one of the most successful and diverse groups in the history of life, with over 25,000 described species spanning a wide range of sizes, shapes, and ecological niches. Known for their distinctive, segmented exoskeletons, trilobites provide invaluable insights into the evolutionary history of arthropods and the dynamics of ancient marine ecosystems.
