4.1" Fossil Fly and Partial Fish Plate - France
This is a plate of small fossil flies (order Diptera) and a partial fish, collected from an Oligocene-aged (Stampien/Rupelian) shale deposit at Mine de Gaude in Southern France. The flies have been covered by a thin sealant to highlight their detail and locations.
This is part of an old collection that we recently acquired. The collection includes a variety of insect fossils from around Southern France, collected over a span of 50 years by a woman with PhDs in paleontology and pharmacology.
It comes with an acrylic display stand.
