3" Pleistocene Bivalve (Arca wagneriana) Fossil - Florida
This is a nicely preserved fossil bivalve of the species Arca wagneriana. Both halves of the shell are present and in exquisite condition. It comes from the Caloosahatchee Formation of Caloosahatchee River, Florida. This formation dates back to the Pleistocene period and overlies the Miocene-aged, Tamiami Formation. The fossil has been completely removed from the surrounding rock it was found in.
