3.4" Fossil Sea Cucumber (Achistrum) Pos/Neg - Mazon Creek
This is a 3.4" wide fossil sea cucumber (Achistrum sp.) from the Carbondale Formation near Essex, Illinois. It is preserved in an ironstone nodule, of which both halves are included. Each half of the nodule is accompanied by an acrylic display stand.
Sea cucumbers are sea floor dwelling echinoderms with tube bodies, leathery skin and an endoskeleton.
