2.45" Miniature Fossil Cluster (Ammonites, Scaphopod) - France
This is an exquisite cluster of small marine fossils (ammonites, brachiopod, bivalve, scaphopod, and crinoid stem) which have been prepared using acid-etching techniques. The detail of these small marine fossils is amazing and it's a very displayable piece. These miniature fossils clusters were discovered a few years back in France, near the Austrian border. I haven't seen them on the market anywhere else. They are Jurassic in age (Oxfordian Stage), or approximately 159 million years old.
The identifiable species include:
Ammonites - Discoscaphinctes trigonalis & Campylites sp.
Gastropod - Dicroloma sp.
Scaphopod - Dentialium entaloides
Bivalve - Trigonia densicostata
Brachiopod - Thurmanella thurmani
Crinoid stem - Millericrinus echinatus
The entire cluster measures 2.45 x 2" and has been mounted to an acrylic display base with a high-quality hot glue to ensure the specimen makes it to you in one piece.
