2.2" Fossil Leaf (Leguminosites)- Green River Formation, Utah
This is a well preserved 2.2" fossil leaf (Leguminosites) from the Green River Formation, Uintah County, Utah. The dark color of the fossil stands out nicely against the gray stone. Leguminosites is a nitrogen fixing family that includes peas and peanuts. There is a fossil cranefly (tipulidae) just above the leaf.
While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse insect fauna.
Comes with an acrylic stand.
