2.05" Fossil Damselfly - Green River Formation, Wyoming
This is a 2.05" long fossil Damselfly from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. It's a currently undescribed species of the family Coenagrionidae (pond damselflies). This specimen was collected at the Fossil Lake Safari Quarry near Kemmerer, Wyoming. Fossil insects are one of the scarcer components of the fauna at the commercial fish quarries.
Damselflies are closely related to Dragonflies and there are currently about 1,100 living species in the family Coenagrionidae.
