1.9" Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia) Fossil (Pos/Neg) - Canada
This is a Metasequoia (Dawn Redwood) fossil from the Driftwood Creek Formation of British Columbia, Canada. The frond is 1.9" long and is nicely detailed on both halves of the split. The Metasequoia genus was considered extinct until a living population was discovered in China in 1941. This makes the dawn redwood a classic example of a "living fossil".
Both the positive and negative half of this split are included.
