1.05" Deep Red Gerastos Trilobite - Zerig, Morocco

This is a 1.05" long, purple Gerastos trilobite from Zireg, Morocco. The purple/red coloration is due to high levels of iron in the silicified exoskeleton. Zireg seams to be a new location where they are finding this reddish trilobites. Previously they were all coming from Hmar Laghdad, but the Zireg ones seam to be closer to purple in color.

It is nicely inflated and laid out, a really beautiful specimen. The left cheek is missing and was carved into the rock.
