1.5" Polished Pyrite Worry Stones
These are small polished pyrite (aka fools gold) worry stones. The pictures are representative to the stone(s) you will receive, though they are hand polished so there is some variation in size, shape, and patterning. They average about 1.5" wide, but some may be slightly larger or smaller.
Worry stones are smooth, polished stones, usually in the shape of an oval, with a thumb-sized indentation. They are often used by people for relaxation or anxiety relief purposes, the same way as some people use a fidget spinner. Typically, worry stones are 1 1/2 to 2 inches across. They may also be referred to as palm stones, thumb stones, fidget stones, etc.
About Pyrite
The mineral pyrite, also known as iron pyrite, is commonly referred to as Fool's Gold because its metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold. In the old mining days, pyrite was sometimes mistaken for gold.
It is the most common of the sulfide minerals with the chemical formula FeS2. Pyrite crystals occur in many shapes and habits, including cubes of all sizes, penetration twin cubes, pyritohedral clusters and as small druzy crystals that can exhibit a beautiful glistening effect.
