.9" Polished, Mahogany Obsidian Spheres

These are beautiful, polished spheres of mahogany obsidian from Mexico. The pictures are representative of the specimen(s) you will receive, so there may be some variation in patterns and color. Being that these specimens are hand polished, there may be some variation in size as well (.8" to 1")

Mahogany obsidian is a natural glass formed when lava cools very quickly during volcanic eruptions. Because the speed at which the lava cools, no crystal structures can form. The red streaks in the normally jet-black obsidian are caused by hematite or other iron-based mineral inclusions. This stone can be found worldwide, though most comes from Mexico.
