Clearance Lot: Marine Fossils From Angola, Africa - 72 Specimens

This is a clearance lot of 72 marine fossils including shark teeth, crushing plates, jaw section, and vertebrae from a unique and rare locality in Angola, Africa. The fossils come from the Luanda Formation, making them Late Miocene - Early Pliocene in age. This material was collected by a geologist working in the country about 15 years ago, so there are almost no Angola fossils out there. The label the geologist provided with these specimens indicated they came from the town of Paredes, Angola, however this is located over Precambrian-aged sediment. However, there are Neogene-aged deposits northwest of Parades, likely being the deposit these specimens were collected from.

The lot includes:

57 complete and partial fossil teeth
3 ray mouth plates
5 fish vertebrae
7 various marine fossils
