7.3" Beautiful, Polished Hematoid Quartz Flame
This is an astonishing, 7.3" tall, polished piece of vibrantly colored hematoid quartz. The base has been cut flat allowing it to display upright on a hard surface. during the polishing process, the craftsman shaped this piece to enhance the interesting inner fracturing. It exhibits brilliant, red-orange color streaks within the quartz. This is due to hematite inclusions along the internal fractures in the quartz.
Hematoid quartz, also commonly referred to as Harlequin Quartz, is the name for quartz that contains heavy concentrations of hematite or limonite. The inclusions of these iron based minerals result in interesting reddish-orange streaks along fractures within the quartz, exhibiting a wispy appearance. Often this quartz is heat-treated to enhance and darken the color, but the specimens we have are natural.
