5.3" Bright Red, Polished Patagonia Agate - Argentina
This is a beautiful, 5.3" wide polished nodule of Patagonia agate from Argentina. It shows off tightly-banded shades of orange, red, and yellows in a complex concentric pattern. It has been cut flat and polished to a glossy finish on one side with the rest of the nodule left in rough form. These Patagonia agates are know for their fluorescence, with this specimen being no exception. Under shortwave ultraviolet light, portions of this agate exhibit a white fluorescence.

Patagonia agate is a colorful variety of agate that comes out of the Chubut Province of Patagonia, Argentina. Most specimens feature pastel red, pink, orange, yellow, and white banding, but colors can vary into greens and purples in some instances. These agates come from the same administrative division (department) as the highly prized crater agates known for their characteristic red-black coloration and intense green fluorescence.
