About Miriam Stone
Miriam Stone is also known by the trade names "Arabic Script Jasper", "Elephant Skin Jasper", "Calligraphy Stone" or "Coquina Jasper". It is a fossiliferous sedimentary rock mined from the Himalayan Mountains in India.
This stone began as a silica-rich mud packed with shell fragments, known as coquina—a term that comes from the Spanish word for cockleshells or shellfish. Coquinas form in high-energy marine environments, like coastlines, where waves and currents wear down, break, and sort the shells. Over time, these fragments fossilized, and the silica-rich mud transformed into jasper. The vibrant orange color comes from iron oxidation.
